New York group Miracles of Modern Science was a big surprise. Caught them Sunday night at Stubb’s waiting for a table in the restaurant. Maybe it was the spur of the moment but their setup of mandolin, violin and cello arranged around banging drums produced a refreshing pop sound > unlike anything I heard before. Their latest album Dog Days was released in December last year, but I reckon the true greatness of this unusual mix is best seen live..
