morceau du jour: Hotel Mexico – It’s Twinkle / 2nd Floor

Ever since Ice Cream Shout shared their wonderful track for the fifth Poule d’Or compilation, the Poule has been paying a bit more attention to the Japanese music scene. While everyone seems to think of Karaoke madness immediately, there are some super fresh bands to discover. Like Hotel Mexico for instance. Six Kyoto-natives who engage in sometimes rocky sometimes electronic always fresh lo-fi with a very special Japanese flavour to it – absolutely loving it. It’s Twinkle and 2nd Floor is from their brilliant and sold out debut album His Jeweled Letter Box – it’s up on Spotify though, check it out.
